Happy December, Merry Christmas, and Happy Holiday DIY season to you!!
It's that time of year for breaking out all the craft felt and glitter
and covering the house in handmade holiday cheer!
To get this handmade holiday season started,
I thought I would share this super simple Candy Cane Wreath tutorial with you.
So simple, I was able to make it the night before Thanksgiving while my pie was in the oven
and I was able to use the next day!
To make a wreath of your own, you will need:
- Red and White Felt
- A large cereal box
- Scissors
- A Glue Gun and Glue
Using two large bowls,
trace a wreath shape onto the backside of your opened cereal box, and cut it out.
From your felt, cut a bunch of strips about three inches wide.
Cut scallops onto one side of each of those strips.
Place one white felt strip and one red strip together,
staggering them so you can see the strip underneath,
and start wrapping them around your cardboard wreath,
securing it with a little bit of glue on the back as you go.
When you get to the end of a strip,
cut it so that the end will be on the backside of the wreath,
and then start wrapping again with another strip of the same color.
At the end of the wreath, tuck the last strips under the scalloped end of the very first strips
to make the layers look continuous.
You might need to play around with the last couple inches of wrapping before you glue it all down,
just to make sure it all fits right.
And you're done!
Look at how easy that was!
I love that because of the loftiness of the felt,
you would never know the wreath base was just a simple cereal box.
What a great last minute project!
Have you gotten your Christmas decorations out yet?!
What bits of festive decor will you be crafting this year?
I'm glad you found my fashion blog :) I'm really shy about having it, so I don't really tell people I know. :) and this is really cute! I have a huge list of Christmas crafts I need to make before December slips away!

ReplyDeleteI LOVE this. I just barely saw this (in January), so I won't be making it for Christmas. I think that it would make a fabulous Valentine's Day wreath. :)
